Programme of the Season 25/26 is online!
June 10, 2025
We have launched our programme for the season 25/26 and would like to warmly invite you to join us! We are leaving the stage, we are investigating dance history, we are making magic! We dedicate our work to improvisation and live choreography. Within our cosmos, we seek out opportunities and encourage a mindset of meeting each other and growing together every day anew. “Yesness” is one of our principles, meaning to accept the current situation in one’s dancing. This creates unique moments and a great virtuosity.
Where are the roots of the DFDC? What is the context of Ioannis Mandafounis' live choreography? This season we are looking at dance history, imagining a future for dance, and exploring different dance techniques. This is most evident in Mandafounis' new creation, which, as part of the double bill “Byways”, traces a path from classical dance techniques, and improvisation, through to his method of live choreography.
With Emanuel Gat and Rosalind Crisp, we have invited two guest choreographers who have had a significant influence on contemporary dance to this day. Gat's creations are powerful choreographic compositions that focus on the study of movement and its relation to music.
Rosalind Crisp is one of the most important practitioners of improvisation. For over three decades, she has been continuously pushing the boundaries of what is possible, constantly developing her method further. The relationship between craft, dance and art is also reflected in our campaign images for the season by Eike Dingler.
We would like to thank our loyal audiences in Dresden and Frankfurt and are happy to also have welcomed many new visitors. The increased audience numbers along with an expanded programme confirms the great interest in our work. Last season, the nomination of Ioannis Mandafounis with “À la carte” for the prestigious theatre prize DER FAUST was a special recognition. International interest in our work is considerable and presenters from renowned theatres worldwide invite us to show our work. We will be touring again this season: Rome, Torino, Lyon, Reggio Emilia, Seoul, Barcelona, Hamburg, Antwerp and Bruges are on the programme.
The very positive feedback from our visitors and in professional circles makes us proud and motivates us to continue on our path. We would like to thank everyone who has joined us on this journey: You, our audience, and our partners, supporters and sponsors for your trust and constant support.
We hope you enjoy discovering the programme and look forward to welcoming you to our performances, here you can scroll through our schedule.
