Rehearsal impressions DOWN THE ROAD
September 7, 2026
Staging a new piece means one thing above all else: time. Time to try things out, discard ideas, develop them further – and the openness to engage with the creative process anew every day. Our ensemble is currently rehearsing “N.N.N.N.” by William Forsythe and the new creation “Body Me” by Cyril Baldy. Both works will have their world premieres in Frankfurt as part of the double-bill “Down the Road” on 5 November.
What is improvisation and what isn’t? With “N.N.N.N.” and “Body Me”, the ensemble presents a canonical piece from William Forsythe’s repertoire, dating from 2002, alongside a new work by Cyril Baldy. Baldy himself was part of the original cast of “N.N.N.N.” at the time and later embarked on his own career as a choreographer. Both works are based on an improvisational process, yet consist of a precisely defined choreography.
