Two premieres in July with Choreo DFDC
June 29, 2026
During the season, the DFDC ran its programme twice to develop the choreographic skills of its dancers. Funding was provided for two projects by its dancers Thomas Bradley and Emanuele Co’.
PRECEED WITH INTENTION: ON THE ASSEMBLING OF THREE
„Preceed with Intention: On the Assembling of Three“ is a site-responsive performance exploring how bodies, sound, and perceptionshape our experience of space and of one another.
Created by Emanuele Co’, Yan Eliv Leiva, and Emanuele Piras, the work unfolds as a dialogue between three performers and the environment that surrounds them. Rather than following a fixed narrative, the performance listens to the space—its acoustics, its tensions, its atmosphere—and allows movement, sound, and language to emerge from what the place itself suggests.
At the core of the project lies a research into three forces that quietly influence our everyday behaviour: gravity, sound, and self-image. Through dance, poetry, and sound design, the work reveals how theseforces shape the way we move, perceive ourselves, and encounter others.
The performance invites the audience into an open landscape of perception, where bodies, sound, and space assemble into a shared experience of attention and presence.
“Preceed with Intention: On the Assembling of Three” will premiere in Milan on 4 July 2026. You can find further information and tickets here.
PLAYWORK
„PLAYWORK“ is a choreographic work by Thomas Bradley and the Frankfurt-based ensemble PLAYWORK-GROUP. The performance is a study of choreographic systems and how they operate. Within defined conditions, four dancers engage one another in a practice of sustained attention.
A charged, game-like atmosphere gives rise to subtle action, while modular costumes generate shifting characters. Played out against the music of Belgian composer Liesa van der Aa, the work foregrounds decision-making and the continual effort to maintain relation.
“Playwork” will have its premiere in Rome on 07. July and will be screened at the Sziget Festival on 11 and 12 August. You can find further information and tickets here.
ABOUT DFDC CHOREO
The DFDC combines contemporary thinking with dance tradition by experimenting and rethinking and further developing traditional notions of choreography. The ensemble brings together creative individuals with diverse experiences and backgrounds. Most of the dancers have already realised many of their own artistic projects.
In this context, Choreo DFDC aims to foster the choreographic development of its dancers. This gives the dancers the opportunity to develop further, to combine the experiences gained within the company with their own dance practice to create something new, and to strengthen the company as a platform for research, choreography and contemporary dance. The support provided by Choreo DFDC enables them to produce and stage their own choreographic projects.
