June 1, 2026
In our “Deep Dive” interview series, we spoke to choreographer, dancer and costume designer Thomas Bradley about his new work for the DFDC, how he views choreography as a “social system”, and how he came to design costumes for Emanuel Gat.
Thomas Bradley was born in Cootamundra, Australia, and studied at the New Zealand School of Dance. He danced with the Sydney Dance Company and, from 2015, with the Australian Dance Theatre. From 2017 to 2023, he worked as a dancer, teacher and costume designer for Emanuel Gat Dance. Since 2023, he has been working as a dancer and, on a regular basis, as a costume designer for the Dresden Frankfurt Dance Company.
His solo works have been performed across Europe, including at Butohpolis (International Butoh Art Festival, Warsaw, Poland), Teatr Rozbark (Bytom, Poland), Fuori Programma (Rome, Italy), International Dance Week Budapest, Le Louvre (Paris, France) and Rez Gauche (Brussels, Belgium). As a costume designer, he has worked for, amongst others, the Staatsballett Berlin, the Scottish Dance Theatre, TANZ LINZ (Austria) and the Graz Opera (Austria). He is a co-founder of the performance collective LANDBREAKERS and director of the choreographic ensemble PLAYWORK-GROUP.
